If you have been following along my journey this year, you know that I'm in the middle of a photography project called Pets of the 603. I teamed up with the Golden Dog Adventure Company to raise funds and create awareness of rescue dogs here in New Hampshire through a beautiful limited edition hard cover-coffee table book with rescue dogs as the stars. The project will benefit Mary's Dogs.
Participants who chose to participate will be allocated a two page spread in the book that will include their photo and story. Each dog participant will be professionally photographed in a local NH location or in a studio setting by me.
I wanted to give you an update on the project. To date, I have photographed 12 of the participants. I've included a few images below from those sessions.
So what comes next?
In early October, a photo contest will be launched to determine the rescue dog that will go on the cover of the book. This is an additional fundraising opportunity for Mary’s Dogs. We will post the contest on various social media platforms to help spread the word. The contest will be open for approximately two weeks. We hope you'll vote often!
I have already started designing the interior pages of the book to showcase all of the wonderful rescue dogs and their stories.
Each participant will receive a copy of the book. In late October copies of the book will be available for sale to anyone interested in supporting the project. The book is tentatively targeted to be available in early December, just in time for the holidays. The book will make a wonderful gift for any dog lover!
In December, all participants will be invited to the book launch party where they will be able to celebrate the book, pick up their copies of the book and enjoy some refreshments. We'll also be announcing the total amount raised for the rescue.

About Mary's Dogs:
Based in Northwood, NH; Mary's Dog's was established in 2011 by Mary and John Doane, and later becoming a nonprofit organization in 2016, Mary’s Dogs rescues approximately 600 dogs annually from kill shelters in the south and re-homes dogs in New England. They also serve as a resource to communities in Southern New Hampshire and pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
