Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of accompanying Kim Hollis of Barkography to Acadia National Park for one of her client sessions. It was April so the park was relatively quiet. The weather was chilly but beautiful and perfect for some photo sessions.
She had a client with two German Short Haired Pointers. For those sessions, I was taking behind the scenes images for her. Some of them can be seen below.
I also invited one of my clients with two Australian Shepherds to join us there since they were relatively close by (well 2 hours is all relative when it comes to Maine). They were happy to come along and I had fun photographing her two perfectly trained aussies. Sorry no photos to share since the client hasn't seen them yet.
But... I did bring along my own aussie boy for the excursion. His name is Tuckerman and he's a 1 year old australian shepherd. It was his first big adventure that included a 4.5 hour car ride each way, staying two nights in a wonderful dog friendly hotel (Harborside hotel in Bar Harbor) including venturing in the elevator like a pro. He also sat quietly in the hotel lobby where we took a few meals (sorry pups aren't allowed in the restaurant) as well as posing for us on the furniture. We also ventured into town where he visited with tourists and entered all the dog-friendly retail establishments where he was the recipient of all sorts of doggy treats.
While the hotel photos were cute, I much preferred the photos of him in the park. What an absolutely stellar location for dog photography. The park is loaded with gorgeous scenery from beaches to rocky shorelines, to forested areas and trails. What a treasure trove of options. I wish I lived closer!
